| Approach
Klosterneuburg, the old Babenberger town, is located in the north
of Vienna, at a distance of 12 km only, bordering the Vienna Woods.
Approaching from the west you reach Klosterneuburg using the motorway A1
called “Westautobahn”. Taking the exit “St. Christophen” you
will arrive at Klosterneuburg after about 45 minutes crossing “Tullnerfeld”.
But if you come from the south, east or north it will be best to
drive via Vienna using the freeway B14 along the river Danube.
Possibilities of Arrival
The nearest airport is Vienna-Schwechat,
from there you can take the highspeed railway to the train station “Wien-Mitte”,
from there on use the metro to Heiligenstadt, and at last the bus
to Klosterneuburg. You can also take a taxi, of course.
By bus or car
From the West
First use Westautobahn till the exit St. Christophen,
later the B19 via Tulln to Klosterneuburg. Or you decide to choose
an especially attractive way to reach the most eastern foot-hills
of the Alps: after the end of Westautobahn pay attention to the
sign-post “Höhenstraße”.
This Höhenstraße offers not only a drive across woodlands,
but also permits you marvellous views of the whole urban area of
Klosterneuburg and of the capital Vienna. Furthermore this street
represents an ideal connection to Vienna, being able to reach the
western gateway of the capital without traffic problems.
From the South
If you come from the south, you will reach
Klosterneuburg using “Südautobahn”,
later “Südosttangente” B22, and at last Nordbrücke – B14.
From the Wachau
Cross the Danube (bridge) in Tulln. Or:
use Nordbrücke in
Vienna to change to the right bank of the Danube, then take B14
to Klosterneuburg.
If you decide for the “Danube Bike Route” : the biker
shuttle bus between Klosterneuburg and Passau can take care of
your and your bike´s transport back to Passau.
